We’re looking for ghostwriters to join a startup helping content creators turn their existing content into bestselling books.
The job is for native English speakers from the US or Canada (preferably) or the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand, if you have a solid grasp of American English. Please don’t apply unless you were born in one of these countries. We can only work with people who have both skills as well as cultural background.
Initially, you’ll be paid per project. In the long term, if you’re interested, this might develop into a full-time/part-time position. The job is 100% remote and flexible as long as you stick to deadlines.
Publishing Parrotturns existing content like blog posts into bestselling books. Our clients are content creators like bloggers who want to build new income streams and spread the message about their work through new formats and markets.
About the Role
你会收到一个链接到博客中。根据project, your job will be to identify the best blog posts and turn them into a well-organized book (meaning that for these projects you’ll have more creative freedom) or work on the posts suggested by the blogger (meaning you need to be able to respect the client’s wishes).
Essentially, you’ll be taking existing content (could be very well written, could need some work), editing, rearranging, repurposing and polishing it so that it can be sold as a book and reach new readers or serve as a more convenient resource for existing blog readers.
You’ll work in Word or Google Docs. You need to have strong reading, writing and editing skills and be willing to learn new things. The job requires you to be a skilled ghostwriter because you’ll need to stay true to the author’s voice.
The most promising candidates will receive a quick paid test job. The best ones will join our team and will be hired for future projects. In the initial stages you’ll report directly to the founder.
(checking if you read carefully: please start your application with the following sentence: “Parrots are cool animals.”)
We’ll communicate primarily via email and a project management tool.
We’d like to grow Publishing Parrot into a fun company of creative people who enjoy helping content creators spread their message through different formats. This means that we’re looking for dedicated and reliable candidates who are passionate about reading and writing.
I, the founder, value my freedom A LOT—and I don’t want to steal yours. This is why the job is 100% remote and flexible. I don’t care when and where you work as long as you get the job done. Digital nomads or semi-nomadic candidates are more than welcome to apply.
VERY IMPORTANT: You need to be flexible when it comes to different topics and styles.
因为我们正在与各种各样的客户, you might receive a job that involves turning a Christian blog into a book (will you be comfortable with it and capable of delivering a high-quality product if you’re not religious?), a controversial self-help blog into a book (will you be comfortable with it if you don’t agree with the blogger’s views?), etc.
If you aren’t comfortable working with content you might not necessarily agree with or believe in, please don’t apply. We’re looking for highly-adaptable professionals only.
In your application, please offer your average rate per 1000 words of repurposed book content.
Consider that you will NOT be writing 1000 words of content. This is not your actual writing rate for writing something from scratch.
You’ll be using existing content like blog posts, sometimes requiring very little or no modification, sometimes requiring heavy editing, to turn them into chapters of a book. You might be required to write a book introduction or conclusion but the heart of the book will be based on existing content that require things like:
- structuring the book: coming up with book sections, chapters, subchapters, etc. and picking which posts would work best,
- editing blog posts for brevity, easier reading, removing outdated information or so that there are no mentions of other blog posts within them,
- asking the blogger for any clarifications or additional content where you feel it’s needed,
- polishing the content so that unedited blog posts become a publishable high-quality book with well laid-out information.
